Haddonfield Bulldawgs

Players to watch: Christian “Chich” Ball has been a dynamic player throughout his career at Haddonfield and earned all-conference first-team accolades for the second straight season last year after leading the Bulldawgs with five goals to go with three assists despite battling various injuries. It will be exciting to see what the forward can do as a senior. Senior forward Michael Mariano added four goals, all of them game-winners, along with two assists. Junior Matt Murschell provides more skill on the wing and is particularly effective on free kicks. Senior Auden Yowler is an all-action midfielder and ball-winner with the ability to create scoring chances, and senior center midfielder Jack O’Donnell started to earn important minutes in the second half of his junior season and will look to play a bigger role. Senior back Billy Impagliazzo, an all-conference second-teamer, is a poised veteran who leads the defense in front of senior goalie Joey Lamb, who finished with 53 saves in a strong junior season. Seniors Daniel Guzman, Cyrus Marwaha and Samir Marwaha round out the experienced defensive rotation. Sophomore Darragh Roddy, the lone freshman to play a full-time varsity role, rarely left the field as a rookie. He will be counted on to either firm up the defensive side of the ball or add another attacking threat in the midfield. Promising varsity newcomers are senior Hudson Schwab and sophomores Andrew Guveiyian, Jack Walters and Andrew O’Donnell, along with sophomore keepers Brady Norton and Alexander Goldman.

Outlook: The Bulldawgs went 7-6 with four one-goal losses against a challenging schedule last fall and were not able to compete in the playoffs due to COVID exposure. It would not be surprising to see this motivated group pull out more of those close games this year and be contenders in the Colonial Conference Liberty Division and South Jersey Group II.
